Shwmae Su'mae

Ar b’nawn braf o Hydref, cerddodd ambell aelod o bwyllgor y ‘Siarter Iaith’ i’r dre i hyrwyddo diwrnod ‘Shwmae, Su’mae’. Cariodd rai blaciau mawr gyda ‘Dwedwch Shwmae’ wedi ei beintio arnynt tra dosbarthodd eraill sticeri lliwgar gan esbonio pwrpas y diwrnod i’r siopwyr. Cafwyd llawer o sylw gyda phobol leol, gweithwyr, ymwelwyr (rhai o’r Swistir oedd â diddordeb mawr yn ein hiaith) yn ogystal ag un o awduron plant amlycaf Gymru, Dr Elin Meek. Yn cadw cwmni i’r pwyllgor oedd rhai o aelodau’r ‘Dewiniaid Digidol’ oedd yn ffilmio’r sgwrsio a’r hwyl ac aethant ati i olygu’r clipiau gan greu ffilm fer a ddangoswyd yng ngwasanaeth yr Ysgol gyfan y bore trannoeth. Bu’r plant yn gwneud gweithgareddau yn y dosbarth i hybu’r diwrnod.

On a fine October afternoon, a few members of the 'Welsh Charter' committee walked to town to promote 'Shwmae, Su'mae' day. Some carried large plaques with 'Dwedwch Shwmae' painted on them while others distributed colourful stickers explaining the purpose of the day to the shoppers. There was a lot of attention from local people, workers, visitors (some from Switzerland who were very interested in our language) as well as one of Wales' most prominent children's authors, Dr Elin Meek. Keeping the committee company were some of the members of the 'Digital Wizards' who filmed the conversation and the fun and they set about editing the clips creating a short film which was shown in the whole school assembly the following morning. Activities were also held in class to promote the day
